Girls Club Principles

Overriding Principle: Honor the Lord and Incorporate Biblical Truth in Everything

Club activity is centered around the game of soccer, but our main goal is to develop godly character in our young people. Competition brings out the best and worst in all of us. We recognize challenging times as learning opportunities for both the players and adults, and we seek to apply God’s truth to each situation. We seek to follow the biblical pattern of resolution when disagreements arise.

Be Competitive, But Winning Isn’t Everything

We expect our teams to play at a competitive level, but winning every possible game is not the goal. A high school player may be asked to play on the JV team in order to get more playing time and develop technical and leadership skills. Younger players are occasionally asked to “swing up” to get experience playing at a higher and more physical level. Having full teams at 3 levels allows us to maximize the growth of each player as they progress through the program.

A Place for Everyone

Hornets Soccer provides a place for all players 6th grade and up. Players will not sit on the bench just in case they are needed to fill a spot. Players join with a variety of soccer experience, ranging from never having played organized soccer to many years of select club participation. We invite and value the diversity.

Key Verses

1 Corinthians 10:31
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Ephesians 4:29
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

2 Peter 1:5-8
“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
